Nestled on the southern slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountain range is the predominantly farming area of Hekpoort, only a short drive from Hartbeespoort Dam and accessible from the south via a pass through the Daspoortrand, hence the name Hekpoort (meaning ‘gate’ in Afrikaans). Hekpoort is one of the closest areas to the Magaliesberg, the looming richly wooded mountain range with a flat top of quartzite rock – the playground of Jo’burgers wanting to get away from the city and much loved by hikers, mountain bikers and rock climbers alike.
The area is incredibly beautiful and the almost consistently blue skies and typically sunny Gauteng weather mean that this part of the world is ideal all year round, so experience the best in Magaliesberg, by staying at one of the more luxurious Hekpoort accommodation options.
The Karee & Wild Olive Guest Lodge offers luxurious accommodation on a game farm where visitors can immerse themselves in nature by walking amongst our game such as sable antelope, kudu, nyala, springbok to name but a few, and not to mention the bird species, or having a picnic at one of the dams on the farm.
We are conveniently situated on Route 24 and in close proximity of a range of wedding venues, leisure activities such as clay pigeon shooting, spas, yoga studios and romantic hot air balloon flights, to name but a few. More information under “Things to Do”.
